The legendary Olympic athlete will partner with
the Step App project in a bid to promote fitness levels globally.

Step App, a FitFi (Fitness Finance) platform, announces on Thursday, July 21st that it has teamed up with Olympic star Usain Bolt. The testnet for the private beta of Step App’s mobile app will be released ahead of its public debut this summer. 

Bolt, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist and 11-time World Champion, Has been named the new face of Step App. According to a press release shared with Coinjournal. 

He will also participate in the development of the product. The partnership will see the two working together to create new fitness-related content and challenges within the Step App ecosystem.

The release notes that, as part of the agreement. A portion of Bolt’s endorsement fee will be paid in Step Tokens (STEP). These tokens can be used by users to unlock premium content, redeem rewards, and power the app’s gamification features.

As the platform brand’s ambassador, Usain Bolt is responsible for millions of people downloading the app. He must also attract other premium brand members and government organizations that share the same goal as Step App. 

Commenting on this latest development, the former athlete says;

“Exercise has been, and continues to be, a significant part of my life. I was immediately inspired and wanted to join this highly significant worldwide movement after learning about the Step App team’s project.”

He said that he is excited to find a way to mix fitness and financial technology. This is why the collaboration with Step App was so great. He adds that;

“I’ve said in the past that we need to aim for inspiration, and through Step App, I’d like to inspire as many people as possible to lead a more healthy and happy life. We’re just getting started!”

With the Step App, the Step team wants to take blockchain innovation beyond its current focus on finance. The goal is for the sector to include aspects such as wellness, exercise, and fun.

The Step App is a social networking software that allows you to compete with your friends and strangers. By doing simple tasks like going for a walk or taking the dog for a stroll in the park.

Kirill Volgin, CEO of Step App, also comments that;

“We are not only creating an industry-leading Web3 platform but also championing a worldwide movement to get millions of people around the world into better health. Our mission is to encourage individuals to exercise daily so that they feel better physically and mentally, and we will accomplish this by incentivizing their exercise with crypto payments.”

The Step team says it is using the Avalanche blockchain to create its platform.

It picked Avalanche because it is a quick, low-cost blockchain with a robust intellectual property base and an indigenous metaverse. As well as ready-to-operate SDKs feature for smart contract solutions, NFT infrastructure, and more. 

The Step team will unveil its digital sports shoes named “SNEAKs.” That clients can buy, trade, and wear digitally on the platform. The company has already partnered with major brands such as Adidas, Nike, and Puma to bring these products to its users.

The team also talked about the gaming and token features of the ecosystem. The gaming element will be based on a popular model where users can play for free. But they can also purchase in-game items with Step Tokens.

The Step App is available for download on the Google Play Store and the App Store. The app is currently in its private beta phase and is expected to launch to the public later
